Activities:    Students construct a dialogue based on a character description and compare and reconstruct in pairs.

Activities:   Sts to write different types of voice overs for photos.   Students compare voice overs and write a commentary on voice overs used in documentaries.

ENHANCING PHASE

Text:   Television and film genres
Activities:  Given different Television and film genres, students are required to name songs, instrumental pieces or types of music they would use for each type of program.

Activities:  Students experiment with the creation of different sound effects. Students create a story that is based on sound effects.
Assessment:  Written answers and drawings.

Activities:  Students determine the sound effects that would be used for different photos or shots from a film. They are required to draw / storyboard two following scenes and label the actions and sound effects.

Activities:  In pairs students practice interviewing each other. The person being interviewed invents a surprise package to drop into the interview.   The interviewer then has to change the question format to suit.

Activities:  Students decide on a subject, interview several people in the class and record their answers. Students compile an edited tape that contains an introduction, conclusion and points of view that agree with theirs.

Activities:  Group Activity.  Each group represents a different media organisation. Groups work out interview questions for a visitor to the class who gives a press conference.
Assessment:  Written or recorded press conference.

Activities:  Students identify the meaning of images , what they symbolise, and identify which groups are left out of television images. Students identify the feelings aroused by different images and identify the deep meanings of symbols.

Activities:  Groups determine underlying meaning of different shots.  Groups plan a television promotion for their school.  This promotion is to be shot on video.
